2013 Trip: Vacation with a Purpose - Helping Hand for Cambodia
Dec 30, 2013 - Jan 11, 2014

Tour Group at Angor Wat

This socially responsible trip allows you to experience traveling abroad in a way that benefits the local people. You will go beyond the tourist sites and learn more about life in Cambodia by visiting our humanitarian projects. We’ll spend time in a rural village. You will eat in restaurants that are training and empowerment programs for former street children, visit fair trade craft shops that employ landmine survivors trained as artisans, and will stay in locally-owned hotels that treat their staff well and prohibit sex tourism.

In addition to visiting tourist sites such as magnificent Angkor Wat, you will meet people who are transforming their lives and communities, including Women’s Self-Help Groups. A portion of your trip fee will be donated to the projects we visit. When you return home you will know that you did something to help people in Cambodia.

Trip Cost The group will be small (8 – 20 participants) in order to provide you with the best experience possible. The price per person is $2500 plus airfare to Cambodia.

Traveling to Cambodia

Cambodia is a popular tourist destination. It is a safe country to visit, the culture is ancient and beautiful, the food is delicious, and the Cambodian people are warm and welcoming. Over 10,000 people a day visit the ancient temples of Angkor Wat. This fascinating complex of carved stone temples dating back to 800 AD to 1200 AD is fun to explore. Many tourists also visit the capital city of Phnom Penh, along the banks of the Mekong River, with museums and French colonial charm. If you have more time, you can visit the coast or remote provinces.
